In Reception, children begin their school journey in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where curiosity and creativity are at the heart of learning. Through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences, children develop the essential building blocks for future success—growing in confidence, resilience, and independence.
This Autumn term, our learning theme is “How we express ourselves.” Children will learn to identify different emotions, what they look and feel like and how to manage them. Through this topic, pupils will develop a deeper understanding of emotional regulation, learning techniques to support their emotional wellbeing at school and at home.
In Maths the children will be introduced to numbers 1 to 5. Looking cloasely at how numbers are represented in different ways. We will also continue to explore 2D shapes, looking at everyday objects in and aorund the school.
The children will be visiting the local church to learn about Christianity and the festive celebration, Christmas. At Edgewick we are extremely inclusive of all cultures and celebrations, and actively promote inclusion and acceptance of others.
