The children are using the environment with confidence, we focus our planning on the children’s interest enabling them to play and learn. The children learn through their play and access resources linked to the 7 areas of learning;

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical development

  • Mathematics-focused group work daily using White Rose maths

  • Personal, social and emotional

  • Literacy- phonics group work daily using the Floppy's Phonics scheme

  • Understanding the world

  • Expressive arts and design- looking at artists and skills

We send ½ termly letters outlining what your child will be learning in class for each of the areas of learning.

We provide fun and stimulating activities to meet the needs of all children as every child is unique. The staff ensure that children develop positive relationships to become confident and independent learners.

This Spring half term we are reading the book Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be looking at Spring seasonal changes and reading non-fiction books which focus on the changes that happen in Spring.

We will be celebrating Mothering Sunday, Holi (the festival of colours), and Easter, talking about why Easter is celebrated and who celebrates it.

During this half term, we will also be learning about planting. This will be covering different parts of a plant and what they need in order to grow. We will also be learning about life cycles of plants and animals.

Our Maths will be focused on representations of numbers 9 and 10, one more and one less, subitising (knowing how many without counting), and comparing quantities of numbers. We will also be introducing adding and number bonds to 10. The children will be recapping their knowledge of 3D shapes.

This half term, Reception will be going out into the wider community to enhance their learning. They will be walking alongside Foleshill Road to observe features of their community and surroundings. We will also be visiting St Elizabeth RC Church as part of our Easter topic. Parents are welcome to join us!

The rest of our learning is play based. Children learn through their interactions with the engaging environment and welcoming staff.
