  • Communication and Language

  • Physical development

  • Mathematics-focused group work daily

  • Personal, social and emotional

  • Literacy- phonics group work daily

  • Understanding the world-through topic work

  • Expressive arts and design-focused work on artist and their work

We send ½ termly letters outlining what your child will be learning in class for each of the areas of learning.

We provide fun and stimulating activities to meet the needs of all children as every child is unique. The staff ensure that children develop positive relationships to become confident and independent learners.

This term our topic is based around the picture book The Snowman. The children will be learning about pictures and what a character might be thinking or feeling. We will be learning about speech bubbles. This book also links nicely to seasonal change happening outside i.e Winter and signs of winter.

We will be celebrating Chinese New Year in February (5th) and looking at the story of the Chinese New Year, and looking at similarities and differences in how different cultures celebrate.

After Half term (25th February) Our topic will be Jack and the Beanstalk and the children will be investing the best conditions to grow plants and how to care for living things which links nicely with whole school science week and seasonal changes i.e Spring and signs of Spring.

We will be celebrating Holi (18th March) and looking at the story of Holi, and looking at similarities and differences in how different cultures celebrate. This also links to our Mondrian Art topic (keeping colours within blocks and then moving on to mixing primary colours to make secondary colours)

Mothering Sunday falls on 31st March, the children will be learning about how mums look after us and showing their appreciation for mums.

Finally we will be celebrating Easter from the 1st April to the 12th April, we will be learning the Easter story and looking at the similarities and differences in how different cultures celebrate. This also links very nicely with learning about new life.
