Reception is the beginning of an exciting school journey. We provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to be curious, creative and confident learners. Through play and hands-on experiences, children develop new skills, build relationships and grow in confidence, resilience and independence.
Autumn Term 2
This term, our learning theme is “I Am Learning About How We Express Ourselves.” We will be exploring different feelings and emotions, learning how to recognise, express and manage our feelings. Through stories, discussions and play, children will develop their confidence, self-awareness and understanding of others.
In Literacy, we will enjoy stories including The Colour Monster, Ruby’s Worries, The Hugasaurus, Stick Man and Twinkly Twinkly Nativity. These will support children's communication, language, early reading and writing skills.
We will continue our Floppy’s Phonics journey, learning new sounds and beginning to blend sounds together to read simple words. Children will continue to bring home phonics activities, and we encourage you to practise these together at home.
In Maths, we will be focusing on numbers 4 and 5, including recognising, subitising and exploring number composition. We will also investigate 2D shapes with four sides, spotting shapes in our environment and learning about day and night.
We have lots of exciting experiences to look forward to this term, including our Bonfire Night experience on 5th November, a community walk to the Sweet Centre to explore Diwali, Christmas celebrations and visits to the library. We will also be busy practising and preparing for our Christmas Nativity performance, which we look forward to sharing with our families!

Reminders!
- Please read with your child every day for at least 5 minutes.
- Please bring your child’s book bag to school every day.
- Please take care of reading books, as lost or damaged books will incur a £5 replacement charge.
- PE is on Thursdays. Please send your child to school wearing their PE kit.
- Please ensure your child wears the correct school uniform and school shoes.

- School jumper or cardigan with school logo
- White shirt or polo shirt
- Black or grey trousers
- Black or grey skirt/dress
- Black school shoes
Please make sure that all uniform, coats and personal belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
